RTP and House Edge Explained
RTP (Return to Player) is the percentage of total wagered money that a game pays back to players over the long term. For example, a 96% RTP means an average of ৳96 is returned for every ৳100 bet — but this is an average across millions of spins, not a guarantee for each round.
RTP typically varies across different game categories. For slots it generally falls between 92–98%, blackjack can reach around 99% with correct strategy, and European roulette sits at around 94–97%. Understanding these differences is helpful when choosing which game to play.
House edge is the opposite of RTP — the casino's expected mathematical advantage. A 97% RTP means a 3% house edge. A higher RTP means a lower house edge, which indicates relatively better conditions for the player.
Understanding volatility is also important. High-volatility games offer bigger rewards but less frequently; low-volatility games offer smaller but more regular wins. Choosing a game that matches your budget and patience is the smartest approach.
Sports Betting vs Casino Games
Which one suits you? See a neutral comparison.
| Feature | ⚽ Sports Betting | 🎰 Casino Games |
|---|---|---|
| Outcome Determined By | Depends on the result of real-world events. | Through a random number generator or a live dealer. |
| Role of Research | Analysing team form, statistics and weather conditions is helpful. | Strategy (such as in blackjack) helps to some extent, but luck also plays a big role. |
| Speed and Pace | Depends on match length — cricket can take several hours. | Each round is over within seconds to minutes. |
| Session Length | Long sessions are possible for the duration of an event. | Short or long — the player decides. |
| Bookmaker Margin / House Edge | The bookmaker builds a margin into the odds. | Each game has its own house edge — higher or lower depending on the game. |
| Best Suited For | Those who know cricket or football well and enjoy analysis. | Those who want instant entertainment and variety. |
Both experiences are available at rv999. Start with cricket betting or find your favourite game in the slots section.
Betting Terms and Glossary
For new players — understand the key betting terms in plain language.
RTP (Return to Player)
A measure of the percentage of total bets a game returns to players over the long term. It is not a guarantee for a specific session but rather a statistical average.
House Edge
The expected mathematical advantage of the casino or bookmaker. Subtract RTP from 100% to get the house edge — for example, a 97% RTP means a 3% house edge.
Wager / Stake
The amount of money you place on a bet is called a wager or stake. Using a bonus usually comes with specific wagering conditions.
Odds
Expresses the probability of an event and the potential payout. High odds mean less likely but a bigger reward; low odds mean more likely but a smaller reward.
Parlay / Accumulator (Parlay)
Combining multiple bets together where the reward multiplies if every outcome is correct. If one result is wrong, the entire bet is lost.
Live Bet
The ability to place bets in real time while an event is in progress. Odds change constantly based on the situation, so quick decisions are needed.
Cashout
The option to exit a bet before the event ends. Used to secure a guaranteed profit or reduce losses if the bet is on track to win.
Bankroll
Your total set budget for gaming. Successful players always follow bankroll management and never bet money they cannot afford to lose.
Free Spin
A special benefit offered by the casino that lets you play slots without using your own money. Usually comes with wagering conditions.
Wagering Requirement
The condition specifying how many times you must wager before withdrawing bonus winnings. At rv999, a 10x wagering requirement applies on the bonus amount.
Volatility
Describes the risk level of a game. High volatility means less frequent but larger wins; low volatility means frequent but smaller wins.
Spread
The difference between two odds, which is the bookmaker's source of profit. A narrow spread means better conditions for the player.
